POSITION INFORMATION
Senior Project Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to the technical aspects of projects including product design, verification, and validation. 
- Translate user needs and other customer input into clear, concise design requirements and design concepts. 
- Create and document design concepts through the use of 3D CAD software and rapid prototyping methodologies. 
- Create concept models and prototypes utilizing small tools and equipment. 
- Create specifications for components, assemblies, packaging, and labeling. 
- Work with Manufacturing and other Product Development engineers to ensure that products are optimally designed for manufacturing. 
- Assist in the identification and selection of outside suppliers and consultants as required. 
- Prepare for and conduct various design reviews in accordance with company targets and objectives. 
- Verify that designs meet functional requirements through the performance of engineering analyses and testing. 
- Assist in the development of test and inspection plans to ensure quality requirements are met and manufacturing process risks are mitigated. 
- Prepare for and facilitate risk assessments throughout the product development lifecycle. 
- Analyze test data using statistical tools, perform in-depth interpretation of results, and generate detailed technical reports. 
- Specify fixtures, gauges, and equipment needed for the verification and manufacture of small quantities of prototype devices 
- Work with management and management’s patent counsel to prepare invention records and assist in the patent submission process. 
- Provide technical support to manufacturing engineering for design and process improvements made post transfer to sustaining manufacturing. 
- Manage the technical project process and scope of work within own discipline; review schedule and budgeted hours; find and resolve all inconsistencies with project manager. 
- Delegate tasks to project engineers and programmers as appropriate. 
- Follow quality management process; conduct project reviews and approvals before all QA/QC reviews done by the technical authority. 
- Maintain strong relationships across all departments, being able to understand and articulate project and design requirements, progress, and troubleshooting to colleagues and management. 
- Coordinate well with all company functions to fully integrate work and project requirements into design criteria. 
- Act as supervisor and resource to technical team; support and assist staff education and development. 
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
- Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required. 
- Minimum 10 years related industry experience. 
- Registered professional engineer (PE) license or other professional certification based on expertise required. 
- Technical product development experience, e.g., design, process, or quality engineering. 
- Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices and principles in own discipline and basic knowledge of practices and principles in other disciplines. 
- Able to conceptualize and develop solutions for high performance systems utilizing precision machined components. 
- Strong communicator who effectively conveys scope, schedule, and budget to clients, co-workers, and technical teams (e.g., work plan, statement of work, and 2-way communication.) 
- Adept at writing comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals 
- Equipped to analyze, problem solve, and train others; organized and attentive to detail; flexible and collaborative. 
- Able to independently resolve complex problems within the engineer’s discipline. 
- Extensive experience with Solidworks is required 
- Strong technical writing ability. 
- Leadership ability and organizational skills.
