Our client is a well-known law firm with a growing Global Trade Compliance practice. Recognized for its collegial culture, flexible hybrid work environment, and emphasis on work-life balance, this firm is expanding its legal team to meet increasing demand. They’re now seeking a Global Trade Compliance Counsel to join their collaborative, client-focused practice.
About the Role
As a Global Trade Compliance Counsel, you’ll advise U.S. and multinational clients on a range of trade compliance issues, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions, and CFIUS reviews. This new role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a strategic advisory capacity and wants a clear path to partnership within a supportive, forward-thinking law firm.
Responsibilities
• Counsel clients on U.S. export control laws and regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and OFAC
• Conduct internal investigations, audits, and voluntary disclosures
• Draft and review export compliance policies and procedures
• Support clients with regulatory filings, including CFIUS notices and commodity jurisdiction requests
• Collaborate with partners and clients on cross-border M&A and enforcement risk mitigation
Requirements
• 6–8 years of legal experience with a focus on U.S. trade compliance, preferably at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department
• JD from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership
• Strong understanding of ITAR, EAR, OFAC, CFIUS, and related regulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive and client-centered mindset
• U.S. citizenship required.
