Position: Benefit Specialist
The Company
Our client is a growing contract manufacturing and engineering business. They work with commercialcustomers and specialize in the manufacture of electromechanical and electro pneumatic machines, and have extensive experience manufacturing machines, assemblies, and systems used in the packaging, beverage dispensing, 3D printing, and other industries. Our client’s capabilities also include metal fabrication and powder coating. Their team is committed to producing the highest quality products using the latest state-of-the-art equipment and manufacturing methods. The company is located in Central Vermont.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Controller, the Benefit Specialist will play an important role in supporting and growing their talent pool. Our client is looking for a collaborative, outgoing candidate who enjoys engaging with others as part of their everyday duties.
The person in this role will collaborate with Senior Management and Department Supervisors to analyze and understand the staffing needs of the company and manage the entire hiring process from start to finish. This includes, but isn’t limited to, creating job descriptions, working with others to develop targets using our talent software, Predictive Index, sourcing and tracking candidates, conducting pre-screening interviews, scheduling interviews for candidates with high prospects of employment and assisting with the development and delivery of formal offers with management.
The work requires patience and consistency to move processes forward as it relates to supporting talent.The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast paced environment and the varying opportunities for social interactions, the steady and methodical nature of the work, and team interactions.
The Benefit Specialist will also be responsible for supporting benefits open enrollment periods, managing benefit plans and policies with the Controller, communicating policy changes and benefits information to current hires and new hires during the onboarding process and providing employee benefit support during the plan year.
In addition to those duties, the person in this role will conduct regular outreach to local technical schools, local colleges and universities to create awareness for professional opportunities.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
· Collaborate with internal departments to determine desired staffing levels and related recruitment needs.
· Assist in the development of budgets and timelines for growth in staffing with senior leadership.
· Prepare hiring forecasts as part of the company's strategic planning.
· Utilize Predictive Index to determine selection criteria, hiring profiles, and job requirements for all open positions whether they are vacated or new positions.
· Develop and update job descriptions for open positions.
· Identify and source potential candidates through online company career portals, recruiters, recruitment sites, job boards, social platforms, as well as print media, posters, and flyers, when required.
· Identify and source candidates by directly calling people employed by other companies to come work for our client.
· Evaluate applications and screen candidates via calls or emails, as well as facilitate pre-interviewassessments.
· Compile interview questions and conduct in-person or video call interviews with shortlisted candidates.
· Compile interview questions for other team members involved in the interview process.
· Coordinate Predictive Index Assessments and assists managers as required with the review process.
· Document processes and fosters good relationships with potential candidates and past applicants.
· Develop hiring strategies and procedures in line with industry trends, as well as staying informed of advancements in the field.
· Engage with recruiters as required for some employment searches.
· Conduct regular outreach & networking with local & regional technical schools.
· Report weekly metrics to leadership related to the recruiting efforts, including but not limited to, open positions, closed positions, turnover rates, time to hire, etc.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience as a Benefit Specialist, or similar
· Strong writing skills. Able to write in a clear and concise manner to report to Senior Management.Able to write ads, and recruitment materials.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to work with internal departments and develop hiring strategies and profiles.
· Advanced knowledge of effective hiring platforms that attract suitable applicants.
· Exceptional ability to screen candidates, compile shortlists and interview candidates based on agreed criteria.
· Experience in creating awareness of the company brand and establishing professional relationships with candidates.
· Proficiency in documenting processes and keeping up with industry trends.
· High energy with a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and help to get things done as required.
· A positive attitude recognizing that they will be the “face” of the company.
