Job Description: Product Manager – Wire & Cable

In this role, you'll drive the full product lifecycle for their rail/transit products while supporting growth in industrial and military segments. You'll serve as the bridge between market demands, engineering innovation, and field sales—owning everything from market analysis and regulatory compliance to product commercialization and customer support.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the product design engineering team.
Market Development
Analyze and research market trends and the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for new products or improvements to existing ones
Identify and evaluate emerging industry trends, regulations, and customer requirements
Product Development – rail/transit, industrial and military
Own the complete product development process, coordinating with R&D and engineering teams
Collaborate with R&D on formulation and optimization of extrusion compounds
Create and maintain technical product documentation, including engineering drawings, material specifications, and technical datasheets
Ensure all products meet or exceed industry compliance standards and coordinate external certifications and approvals
Operations
Develop product cost analyses, prepare engineering quotations, and create pricing strategies
Source and specify raw materials for new products, balancing performance requirements with cost efficiency
Sales & Customer Support
Partner with field sales engineers through joint customer calls, product presentations, and technical support
Develop marketing literature and collateral sales materials
Serve as the technical expert for customer inquiries and custom application requirements
Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and events to promote products and gather market intelligence
Identify and recommend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
Travel required to support sales and industry activities – domestic & international - 10 - 15%
Required Qualifications
B.S. in engineering and 5+ years of product management experience in manufacturing, with demonstrated success in wire/cable products and/or applications.
Working knowledge of rail/transit industry standards and compliance requirements
Technical background in material science, polymer chemistry, or materials engineering—particularly as it relates to extrusion compounds as they apply to extreme operating environments
Experience managing product compliance, regulatory approvals, and third-party certifications
Demonstrated success in field sales support, including customer site visits and trade show participation
Excellent communication abilities—capable of translating complex engineering concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
Track record of successfully launching new products or entering new market segments in highly regulated industries
Proficient in Microsoft applications and CAD or SolidWorks.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 plus bonus based on experience, technical expertise, and demonstrated product management success
Remote is an option on a case-by-case basis for a highly qualified candidate with a successful track record.
