The Area

 

This position is located at Champlain’s headquarters in Colchester, VT.  The Colchester, Vermont area is a charming and vibrant region located in the northwestern part of Vermont just north of Burlington, the state's largest city.  Colchester offers a unique blend of small-town charm and easy access to urban amenities. Colchester is a thriving community of about 17,000 people that boasts a strong sense of history and tradition.

 

Outdoor enthusiasts will love Colchester's proximity to Lake Champlain, which provides opportunities for boating, fishing, and swimming. The town is also home to numerous parks and trails, including the popular Colchester Bike Path, which runs along the Winooski River and offers scenic views of the surrounding countryside. In addition, Colchester is just a short drive from the Green Mountains, which offer endless opportunities for hiking, skiing, and exploring.

 

Schools.

 

The Colchester, Vermont area has an excellent school system, with a range of educational options available for students from kindergarten to high school.

  • Colchester School District: The Colchester School District serves students from kindergarten to 12th grade, with a total enrollment of around 3,500 students. The district has a strong reputation for academic excellence, with high graduation rates and a range of extracurricular activities available.

  • St. Thomas Aquinas School: A Catholic elementary school serving students in grades K-8.

  • Lake Champlain Waldorf School: A private school serving students in grades K-12, with a focus on Waldorf education.

Higher Education:

  • University of Vermont: Located in nearby Burlington, the University of Vermont is a public research university that offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

  • Community College of Vermont: The Community College of Vermont has a campus in Colchester, offering a range of associate's degree and certificate programs.

 

Shopping and other items of interest.

 

·      Burlington, Vermont. Home of several colleges, attractions and shopping located on the shores of Lake Champlain. It is the home of the University of Vermont, their medical school and hospital

·       Montpelier, Vermont. Vermont’s capital, less than 45 minutes from either location.

·      Outdoor sports. This is a great four season area for outdoor sports from fly fishing, hiking in the Green Mountain NationalForest, downhill/cross country skiing, mountain biking and much more.

·       A full complement of churches, service clubs and volunteer opportunities are in the area.

·       Amtrak has a stop nearby providing service to New York City and points south. 

·       There are multiple choices for air travel.  Burlington International is nearby with Plattsburgh, NY and Montreal as other options.
