Position: Human Resource Assistant
Overview:
The Human Resource (HR) Assistant supports the Human Resources function in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for providing administrative support in areas such as hourly recruitment, employee onboarding, attendance tracking, compliance documentation, and maintaining employee records. The HR Assistant ensures smooth and efficient operations of HR processes, while upholding confidentiality and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with recruitment of hourly and production staff including job postings, screening applications, coordinating interviews, and conducting reference checks.
· Prepare and maintain onboarding packets and conduct new hire orientation for plant employees.
· Maintain accurate employee records, including training certifications, disciplinary actions, and safety documentation.
· Track employee attendance, absenteeism, tardiness, and vacation time using timekeeping software.
· Support coordination of shift changes, plant-wide communication, and uniform or badge distribution.
· Assist with administering employee benefits, open enrollment, and wellness initiatives.
· Support the implementation of safety programs and training compliance in conjunction with EHS personnel.
· Maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws (e.g., OSHA, FMLA, EEOC, FLSA) and company policies.
· Assist with the preparation of HR metrics and reports on headcount, turnover, attendance, and training.
· Serve as the first point of contact for general HR inquiries from shop floor employees.
· Support company events, employee recognition programs, and morale-building activities.
· Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, copying, and data entry.
Qualifications:
· Associate’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field (bachelor’s preferred).
· 1-2 years of experience in an HR or administrative role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
· Working knowledge of HR laws, practices, and procedures
· Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with HRIS and timekeeping systems (e.g., Kronos, ADP) is preferred.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all employee levels.
· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment.
· High degree of discretion and professionalism.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to walk the production floor as needed (PPE may be required).
· Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
· Occasional lifting of boxes or materials (up to 25 lbs.).
· Exposure to typical plant environment conditions (noise, temperature changes) may be required occasionally.
Compensation in the $45K to $52K range depending upon experience.
